Week commencing 9th January 2023

We continue to play around with the words and ideas from the poem “Jaberwocky” in English lessons this week. Towards the end of the week, we have been using the nonsense words in the poem to retrieve ideas. We have also been turning the poem into a narrative by writing each verse in our own “story like” words.

We have started learning more about properties of 2D shapes this week. We have looked at the vocabulary “parallel”, “perpendicular” and others such as “horizontal”, “vertical” and “intersect”.

We spent time looking at two shapes and describing the similarities and differences. At the end of the week we looked at quadrilaterals.

This week, in our Dreams and Goals Jigsaw topic, we explored the thoughts and feelings around not achieving goals and what advice we might give others who don’t achieve something. The class talked so well about “never giving up” and the importance of “resilience”. Well done Y4!
