Early Years Maths

The children in Reception have been using numicon to find different ways to make 10.

In Nursery, the children have been learning to count objects and recognise numerals.

At the Year 2 Stay and Learn this week everyone got the oppotunity to learn about 3D sculptures and worked together to build 3D models using a range of materials. 

Year 5 - Music Lesson

Year 5 have been learning to play the glockenspiel to occompany them singing 'Dancing in the Street' as part of their music lessons this half term. 

Year 2 - Mapping Shenley Village

As part of their Geography lesson this half term Year 2 went on a walk around Shenley villiage. They followed and annotated maps to help them think about their enquiry question 'Where shall we put a new bin?' 

Tekkers Academy will be running every Saturday for 8 weeks at Shenley Primary School. Check out the link below for more information or to book online.

Sarah, CEO of Comfort Cases, came into school to tell us about backpacks they give to children who are going into care.

The school council visited the headquarters and packed some backpacks themselves with teddies, pyjamas, blankets, toiletries, colouring pads, crayons, and a book. The children wrote some words of affirmation which were touching!

The children came up with some creative ways in which we could raise money to support the excellent work of Comfort Cases, watch this space for more...

EYFS Forest school nature designs

In Mini-police Morpurgo class learned all about the equipment the police use and explored the police car on the field.

In Milligan class Stay & Learn we drew each other striking an unusual pose, it was a funny challenge, thanks Mr Donnellan!

Thanks to all the parents who supported this lovely activity, it was great to have you all in school learning together!

The children in Early Years have been making the most of the beautiful weather and collaborated really well building with the wooden blocks.

Matt Dickinson, former camera man and director is now the author of the Popcorn squirrel series. He based his books on his travels, along the Amazon with Bear Grills and scaling the North face of Everest. The children learned all about his adventures and wrote an imaginative postcard home in response.

After school club made pizzas

Manor Lodge children and parents donated lots of books for our school,

how kind!

The staff came to tell us a story and the children made origami models,

thank you!

Year 4 have the very special privilege of an authors visit on Wednesday 24th.

Matt Dickinson will be sharing his POPcorn squirrel books and the children will be engaging in a creative writing workshop with him.

 

We will have the opportunity to purchase a book and have it signed by Matt on the day- children will need to bring their money in on the day in an envelope.

 

The prices are ‘World Unite’ = £6 and ‘Dinosaurs’ & ‘Everest’ = £7 each.
