Week Beginning Monday 6th March 2023

This week in English the children wrote their own non-chronological reports on Pirates! They gathered information and facts to create these reports and done a fantastic job! Miss Rawlings enjoyed hearing some pirate facts.

Next week in English we will be starting our new book, Gorilla, by Anthony Browne. The book is about a girl called Hannah who loves gorillas but has never seen one. Her father is too busy to take her to the zoo and so for her birthday, Hannah asks her father for a gorilla – but is disappointed when she discovers that the gorilla she got is just a toy.... But then something extraordinary happens when the toy turns into a real Gorilla.

In maths we have been ordering and comparing fractions. Next week we will be multiplying with multiples of 10.

Next week is science week and the theme is 'connections'. Please look at the websites listed below as they have some good experiments you can do at home as part of this weeks homework. To take part in Shenley Science Fair children must create a colourful and eye-catching project about a science experiment that they have carried out. The project should involve both pictures and writing, and must be no bigger than two pieces of A3 paper. The children could even bring in some props to show their classmates at the fair.

Message from Mrs Light:

The children loved the trip on Tuesday and we all learned a lot about what the foodbank does and what makes a meal. We then used the park for cardio activities linked to PSHE and exercise.

Please could you add a thankyou to all the parents who supported this by sending in a tin and to those that helped on our visit.

Have a lovely weekend, Miss Atkinson
