Week Beginning Monday 31st October 2022

Welcome back everyone! Hope you all had a nice relaxing break! It is very much needed with the run up to Christmas!

This week we started our new English book, 'The True Story of the Three Little Pigs' where we looked at direct and indirect speech and related this to newspaper reports. The children made recounts of the dialogue that may have occurred between a journalist and character from the story. The children were then encouraged to record this in a speech bubble and then demonstrate how to record this using the correct speech punctuation. It is a working progress but they all tried so hard with scaffolded support. 

In maths this week we have been looking at written addition (column method) with three digit numbers. The children have been learning to regroup numbers should they be higher than 9. We also practiced this skill with units of measure. 

This week we started our French lessons! We looked at where France is on a world map, discussed countries that boarder France and other countries around the world that speak French as their first language. Did you know that 29 countries have French as their national language and 220 million people speak French around the world!
