Week Beginning Monday 23rd January 2023

Good afternoon, hope you are all well and are having a lovely week.

This week in English we created storyboards to think of a new trick Gudrun could pull on Ulf. The children came up with some great ideas including; a hand made from clay, five hot chillies, chicken bones or twigs tied together. They planned their sequence ready to write up next week.

In maths this week we have been using distributive law to work out multiplication sums we might not have learnt or know yet. For example, if the multiplication was 12 x 7 we would partition 12 into 10 and 2 and then multiply 10 x 7 and 2 x 7. The children know these multiplications so are a lot more confident working with them. 12 x 7 = 84.

Next week in maths we will be looking at worded problems.

In Geography we learnt about Skara Brae and why it is a significant part of history. We located Skara Brae on a map and used the internet to research Skara Brae. In groups the children wrote and acted out a news report. They worked in small groups and talked about what they had learnt.

Have a fantastic weekend! Miss Atkinson
