Week Beginning 8th May 2023 - Week 4

This week Year 1 have been continuing to read the story 'Little Red and the Very Hungry Lion'. We have been writing sentences using the conjunction 'and' to describe Little Red's journey to see her Auntie Rosie. We have also made predictions about what the Very Hungry Lion's 'naught plan' is going to be.

In Maths we have been solving word problems with a missing part and a missing whole - using subtraction and addition.

In DT we have started our new topic for this term which is Food - preparing fruits and vegetables. As part of this topic we will be making our own fruit salads. We have started this week by evaluating the packaging and taste of fruit salads you can buy in the supermarket. This is going to help us to make decisions about the kind of fruit salad we want to make.

In RE we have been learning about tzedakah. This is Tzedakah is Jewish peoples obligation to do what is right and as part of tzedakah many people give money to worthy causes or help others in their community. We watched videos about the kinds of ways Jewish people show care in the community through tzedakah and next week we will be thinking about ways we can help others.
