Week Beginning 6th February 2023 - Week 6

The final week of this half term had been amazing in Year 1!

On Monday as part of our RE learning we visited St Martin's Church to learn about why churches are special places for Christians and what a vicars job involves.

We did some fantastic independent writing on Tuesday linked to the video 'Book of Butterflies' which you can watch below. We spent 10mins talking about what we would write and another 10mins planning our own version of the story. Then we wrote our versions on special paper. Year 1 worked independently remembering to use their phonics knowledge, finger spaces, capital letters and full stops. The results were brilliant! Below is a selection of our stories!

In Maths we have bee dong estimating which culminated on Friday with estimating missing numbers on a blank number line.

In DT we made our final products of moving animal pictures which use a mechanism.

In Science we create a bar graph to show which weather happened the most during one week, we used our whole class weather diary to help us create this table.

Everyone has worked so hard this week and we had a special treat on Friday, a short disco, watching a movie, golden time and some sweet treats!!
