Week Beginning 27th February 2023 - Week 2

This week Year 1 have been getting stuck in to many of their new topics this half term.

We began looking at Henri Rousseau as part of our art learning this week. We looked at some of his paintings and discussed what we could see, what we liked and how the paintings made us feel.

In Science we began labeling the different parts of the human body as part of our topic 'Animals including Humans'. We sang head, shoulders, knees and toes and labeled the external parts of our body e.g. head, elbow etc.

In Maths we have been working on knowing which numbers are odd and which are even and noticing patterns surrounding odd and even numbers.

In English we finished off writing our poems about a squirrel, inspired by the free verse poem 'One Silver Speck'.

On World Book Day we had a jam packed day! We took part in a 'name that book' quiz, we had some 'D.E.A.R. Time. (drop everything and read) We also made personalised bookmarks to use with our favourite book and took part in the whole school costume parade!
