Week Beginning 23rd January 2023 - Week 4

This week has been jam packed for Year 1! We have been continuing to explore different mechanisms in DT and made our own sliding pictures which move up and down and side to side.

In Music we have been learning to play untuned instruments and learning the names of the instruments we have been playing, as well as copying a simpl rhythm.

In Science we went on a winter walk to see what signs of winter we could see around our school and recorded our observations.

In English we have been planning our own stories about a magical tree inspired by the 'noo-noo tree' at the end of 'The Last Noo-Noo'. We decided what was going to grow on our tree, acted out what we would do and planned our story using a story map template. Next week we will be writing up our story!

In Maths we have been using cuisenaire rods to find different ways to make 5 and 9 and writing the matching number sentences. All week we have been looking at making equivalent values.

In Jigsaw/PSHE on Friday we even made jam sandwiches! To help us think about the small steps involved in reaching our bigger goals.
