Week Beginning 17th April 2023 - Week 1

Welcome back!

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter break and is ready for the Summer term.

Year 1's first week back was jam packed and they have all worked so hard.

On Wednesday we had our first every swimming lesson. We were all so excited and everyone was really brave travelling on the coach and getting in the pool for the first time! Everyone was so well behaved and really tried their best, well done Year 1!

In English this week we finished off writing our emotions poems which we started at the end of last term. On Monday we will be writing them up in best so they can be displayed and I will share some of the poems on the class page next week.

In Maths we have been exploring making the same amount in different ways, including using subtraction. e.g. 2+8=10  12-2=10

We have been using lots of different manipulatives to explore this concept including a bucket balance and Cuisenaire rods. Next week we will be exploring part/whole models and finding the missing part or the missing whole.

In RE we have finished off our learning around the celebrations of Easter and Passover. This week we learnt about the story of Passover and learnt about the different ways Jewish people celebrate. We made a Seder plate and tried some of the traditional foods Jewish people eat on Passover. The foods help to remind them of the story of Moses.
