Week beginning 12th Sept

Another busy week for Rowling class. We have explored estimating numbers, rounding to the nearest 10 and 100. Next week we will be rounding to the nearest 1000 and then securing addition and subtraction mental fluency.

In English the children explored the use of figurative language when writing about the nightmare scene in The Boy and the Cloth of Dreams. The children also looked at complete and incomplete sentences and fixed the sentences which were not correct.

Electricity is our topic for Year 4 Science and the children had a practical lesson building a simple circuit to make a light bulb light up. It was a very lively lesson with the children celebrating each others successful circuits!

In History the children looked at what schools were like in Ancient Greece and how they were different to modern schools. the children took great delight in learning about the fashions of Ancient Greece and dressing up in their own Chiton and deciding if they would be a barefoot Ancient Greek or one whom wears sandals.
