W.C. 5th September 2022

What  a busy first week in Year 6!

Maths

We have been revising place value this week by reading and writing large numbers and ordering and comparing them! We started off by thinking about why we need to read and write large numbers! We came up with lots of ideas including; being able to read the money in our bank accounts, help us buy houses, help us to understand change especially if we are a cashier and reading road signs.

English

We began our new book 'Darwin's Dragons'. We started off with a cold write of a setting description based on a storm! After reading a WAGOLL, creating word maps and planning our improved versions, we have now written our 'hot' write!

VIPERS

'Street Child' is based in the Victorian times and tells us as story of the workhouses! We looked at different historical sources to help us understand these places! As a class, we decided we would not of wanted to live within one!
