Week beginning 6th September 2021

We have had a fantastic start to our new school year. The children have stepped-up and shown a mature attitude to their learning. We have been looking at a wonderful book by Mini Grey 'Traction Man is Here!' and this has been the basis of our English lessons, writing a diary recount of Traction Man's action packed day. We have included adverbials of time and place, relative clauses and expanded noun phases. It has been a pleasure to mark the children's creative writing.

The book has inspired our Art and Year 5 have been exploring different characters they could create, friends and foes, from everyday objects developing their drawing skills. They have tried to focus on developing the sense of movement in their art work. I'm really impressed with how hard they have worked.

The children have started back swimming and dance lessons with Dancing Stars. We have begun reading Kensuki's Kingdom by Micheal Morpurgo together and continue to share Skysteppers by Katherine Rundell for our end of day story.

The next coming weeks we will be exploring Mexico and comparing to the UK in Geography and looking at Forces in Science.
