Week beginning 4th October 2021
We have had a great week! We have been continuing with our story 'Stanley's Stick' and using it as a basis for our imaginative writing in the role as Stanley. In maths we have been matching numerals to amounts in different ways. We have been practising counting up to and over 100 as well as counting in twos to ten and twenty.
This week in art we have been looking at the work of Andy Goldsworthy and how he uses natural materials to create unique pieces of sculpture. We have been exploring drawing and creating patterns as well as learning to mark make in a range of ways using pencils.
In music we have been practising our rap song 'Hey you' and playing games linked to clapping rhythms and keeping a steady pulse.
We were very lucky when Mrs Warren brought in her tortoise 'Touche' to show to the class. They really loved it and asked lots of questions about him. Afterwards they used their sketching skills to draw some excellent pictures!
Next week in maths we will be learning to identify more and less with objects and numerals and representing amounts using a variety of mathematical apparatus. In English we will be writing single clause sentences and using rhyme to create a poem based on the story 'Stanley's Stick'.
We look forward to another busy week together.
Mrs Scanzi and Mrs Warren.
