Week beginning 21st March 2022

This week the children have been looking at how to translate (move) shapes and reflect shapes. They have used co-ordinates and horizonal and vertical lines of reflection. They have ended the week playing a game called ‘Flip and Slide’ where they had to pick an instruction card and either translate or reflect their counter. Winner had the most counters.

In English the children have been tasked with writing a set of instructions. This may have been using Ade’s experience from ‘Boy in the Tower’ and wrote about how to capture, prepare and cook a pigeon or (for the more squeamish!) how to care for a pet.

In Science the children were exploring how to separate mixtures, solutions and suspensions. Look at what the best process would be. They have been able to try out what they predicted and think about any materials which can not be separated.

We have been exploring the work of David Hockney and the children have look at how to mix secondary and tertiary colours and exploring complementary colours (sometimes know as contrasting) which Hockney uses to make his paintings pop. The children also explored creating perspective in their paintings and pictures.

In French the children completed a conversation using all the parts of greetings we have learn so far. There are some great accents in Morpurgo class!
