Week beginning 13th September 2021

This week has been very busy!  We have been continuing with our class story 'Traction Man' and the children have been sequencing the story independently.  We have shared stories 'The Enormous Crocodile' and 'Esio Trot' by Roald Dahl this week which the children found really amusing!  Next week we will be moving to a new text 'Stanley's Stick' by John Hegley.  In maths we have been practising using and applying ordinal numbers and degrees of turn as well as practising our counting skills.  We have been learning about features of the seaside and looking at photos of 'Walton-on- the-Naze'.  They class loved creating and sharing their dream jars last Friday and they are now on display in our shared area.  We have been learning a range of songs and had great fun retelling the story of 'The Three Little Pigs' together using actions, rhythms and our voices! Next week we are starting our music lessons using a programme called 'Charanga' where we will be learning a rap and holding a steady pulse.

Please remember that P.E. is on a Monday and children can come to school in their P.E. kit.  We have our class library day on a Wednesday, so please ensure that your child brings their library book with them on that day so we can change them.  On Fridays we will be changing the reading books and sending home a text they have already shared at school during the week.  It is really important that your child reads regularly at home  - we are aiming for at least five times per week!  We are looking for 'super readers', so to qualify for this we need to see that your child's reading record has been signed to show the five sessions you have shared at home.

We look forward to an exciting week next week!

Mrs Scanzi and Mrs Warren.
