Week beginning 11th October 2021

This week we have been learning to identify more and less in maths using comparative language.  We have been counting and comparing amounts as well as finding one more and one less than given numbers.  This week we have had a big focus on using bead strings to support our maths learning, which the children have really enjoyed.

In English we have been continuing with our writing linked to Stanley's Stick and practising key skills of sentence writing.  We have listened to a wide variety of stories.

For science we have continued with our learning linked to the seasons, and went outside to hunt for signs of autumn.  We worked closely with our learning partners to do this.  Back in the classroom we stuck everything down onto strips to show what we had found as well as completing a tick sheet checklist.

In art we have continued to explore mark making with our pencils and had a particular focus on line drawing looking at the work of a wide variety of different artists.

In R.E. we have been finding out about the use of symbols in the Christian faith and discussing these.

Next week we are going to be continuing with our key skills in writing and finishing off with our story 'Stanley's stick'.  In maths we will be continuing to practise finding one more and one less and learning to represent this pictorially in a range of ways.

In science we are looking forward to linking the seasons to the months of the year and finding out about the changes that occur as we move into the winter season with changes in temperature and daylight hours.

We were very proud to find out that our class are full of super readers this week and feel extremely pleased that all the children and parents are doing such a great job of supporting us with reading development in Kipling class.

Thank you very much!

Have a great weekend and we will see you all next week.
