The Nursery Learner

In the Nursery we use play-based learning to deliver the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation. Children are encouraged to be independent, curious and brave learners. They are nurtured to develop their skills whatever their starting point. We also use the Development Matters Framework to support our planning and ensure children develop the skills they need for life long learning.

Below are some guidelines on what we would expect most children joining Nursery to be able to do and what we would expect most children to be able to do by the end of Nursery heading into Reception.

You may also find is useful to read the 'What to expect When?' leaflet for parents. This details the types of things your child should be doing based on their age and gives ideas on things you can do at home to help your child's development.

You can also download below our leaflets on supporting Literacy and Maths at home for Nursery and Reception children if you would like more ideas of ways to develop your child's learning at home.

If you have any concerns about your child's progress or development please speak to your child's class teacher.
