Home School Reading Partnership

In Year One, children will read with a member of teaching staff at least once a week. This will be recorded in your child's reading record book with a comment and/or stamp so that you know that they have read. Staff will initial or write their name so you know who your child has read with.

Adult helpers may also hear your child read in school. This will be recorded in your child's reading record book with a stamp reading 'I have read with an adult today'.

Children will change their reading book on Fridays. They will have a phonics-matched book to take home and practise. Your child will have read this book during the week at school and so will be familiar with the text.

Please read with your child daily and sign their reading record book.

Please also practise the phonics sounds that are in the middle of their reading record and the high frequency words and common exception words- these are also found on this page. Reading books and reading record books should be kept in your child's book bag so that we can update them when needed.
