Week commencing 8th November

This week in Jeffers Class we have been working very hard in all of our lessons. In English, we have been reading the book ‘The Last Stop on Market Street’ by Matt De La Pena . The book tells the story of a young boy and his grandmother who find beauty in the most unlikely of places. Today, the children were writing diary entries in role as CJ, the main character in the story. I was particularly impressed with the way the children were able to use vocabulary from the story in their own versions.

We have done a lot of art this week in the afternoons and have been focusing on our drawing and sketching skills. We drew different flames as well as a range of Tudor buildings which links to our topic on the Great Fire of London.

Thursday was our Science house day and we got to try a range of activities such as building boats, making paper aeroplanes, making helicopters and also making musical instruments. We had great fun on these tasks and loved working with our siblings too! We are looking forward to the next house day which is going to be an art one.

Just a reminder that children should be reading daily and having their reading records signed each time. Only 40% of our class were ‘Super Readers’ this week (a ‘Super Reader’ is someone that reads every day).

Have a lovely weekend! J
