Week commencing 30th November

This week I have been so impressed with the attitude to learning of all of the children in Jeffers Class! It has been a lovely calm week and they have produced excellent work! I was particularly impressed with the diary entries that the children wrote based on our book 'Vlad and the Great Fire of London'. This is a topic that the children are very knowledgeable about after studying it in history, and this showed in the great description in their work.

In Art, we have been sketching 'cityscapes' based on the work of the artist Stephen Wiltshire, who creates the most incredible cityscapes, sometimes after only observing the city for a short time. I think the children in Jeffers Class will be giving him a run for his money though as the ones they created were excellent. They used lines and dots (stippling) to create texture in their pieces too.

In RE this week we have been talking about belonging. We talked about the groups we belong to such as our school, our families and the clubs we attend out of school. We then moved on to looking at how Christians and Jewish people show that they belong to their religions.

We have been working extra hard on our production this week too and are excited for you all to see it in just a few weeks time. Please ensure that your children are learning their lines at home so that they can ditch the scripts and focus on their funky dance moves!

Our 'Super Reader' score was just 27% this week meaning that only a quarter of the class are reading at home every night. Please can we have a push on this next week! Reading is so vital to everything that we do and we want to create a love of books in our children!

Have a great weekend everyone and I will see you all on Monday!
