Week beginning 28th February 2022
The children have written their own part of the Boy in the Tower, creating tension an atmosphere in their own writing. They have tried to use different length sentences for affect, add some descriptive language of the place and things - especially the Bluchers.
In Maths we have been exploring cubed numbers, volume and capacity. we have use the multilink blocks to help us.
Science had the children exploring materials and their properties especially those with a magnetic force. The children discovered that although all magnetic things are metal, not all metal is magnetic.
We have begun our new topic 'Traders and Raiders' the Anglo- Saxons and the Vikings. The children complete a piece of Art to hook them into the topic, using art inspired by Katy Hirschfeld. The children explored viking faces, beards and helmets. In History they explore the reasons why the Anglo-Saxons first came to Britain.
World Book Day was a great success... Thanks for all the amazing 'word' costumes and book character spoons. We had a parade in the playground, a book tasting session- 3mins to find a book, read the blurb and as much as possible on the inside in the time, before moving onto the next book. The children complied a list of books they may want to read in the future. The day ended with the children creating a reading den where they could snuggle in, under or on top to read a book quietly.
