Week beginning 17th January 2022
There has been a considerable buzz about the classroom this week as we have begun two new books. The children have been begging to read more, which is always such wonderful moment. In English, we have begun Boy in the Tower by Polly Ho-Yen and our curiosity is peaked wanting to find out what the Bluchers are and why 'Before' was better than 'After'.
Our book for Guided Reading is by Tony Bradman, called Anglo-Saxon Boy and has Betrayal, Battle, Bloodshed is the subtext... what could this be about and who are Magnus and Hakon?
In Maths, the children have been continuing to explore equivalence in fractions, finding common multiples so they can then compare and order fractions with different denominators of the same multiple.
Rivers and Coasts have been the focus of our Geography and the children have found ways to represent their learning through mind maps, diagrams and written explanations.
Adele is the inspiration for our music lessons at the moment and it has been interesting exploring a ballad and comparing it to Bob Dylans version. The children were practising the verses and identifying when the words needed to be stretched and elongated and when the pitch rose and fell.
Wonderful Water was the focus of Science this week and it's changing states. We used our observation skills to identify changes which took place and the processes involve in causing these changes.
