Week 1 - Monday 21st February 2022
Hello and welcome back to the second half of the Spring term.
A letter went out today informing parents of our Spring term school trip which is taking place on the last day of term. We will be visiting the Natural History Museum in Tring and will be having a workshop based around our Science topic, 'Animals Including Humans' The children are very much looking forward to it, as am I. If you would like to be a parent helper on this trip please speak to Miss Atkinson.
This week Year 4 have been looking at poetry in English and they wrote their own limericks. I was very impressed with how they turned out. Chloe and Maisie wanted to share their work so I have posted a video of them below. Next week we will be continue with poetry, looking at riddles.
The children finished their PSHE project this week, they worked in groups to design, make and evaluate a 'Garden of Dreams and Goals'. The challenge was to create a garden decoration which can be made and
sold at the opening fête of the Garden of Dreams and Goals. Examples
could be painted stones, painted plant pots, fairies, gnomes, ‘bug
sticks’ (pipe cleaner, garden stick, friendly bugs that can stick in the
ground, pipe cleaner flowers, etc.)
The task involved:
• Working as a team
• Designing a unique product that people would like to buy
• Making the product
• Deciding on cost
• Preparing a leaflet or label for the product
• Selling the product at the fête.
Group 1 - Nina, Melina, Agnes and Maisie made a 'Mushroom Bird House'
Group 2 - Amber, Daisy D, Daisy M, Chloe and Sonia made a 'Flower Garden'
Group 3 - Henry, Victor, Alfie and Evie made a 'Bug Hotel'
Next week we will be starting our new PSHE topic which is 'Being Healthy'
Have a great weekend, Miss Atkinson and Mrs Light
