Week Beginning 24th April 2023 - Week 2

This week Year 1 have been focusing on finding the missing part or missing whole in Maths using cherry models and Cuisenaire rods. 

In English we have been fixing sentences using purple pen to add in missing full stops and capital letters. We also focused on writing sentences using capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. We began reading our new book 'Little Red and the Hungry Lion' and looked for links to other tradditional stories that we know. 

In Jigsaw we continued to explore our relationships with others, thinking about what makes a good friend. 

We also finished off our History topic from last term, sorting toys onto a timeline and thinking about what is the same and what is different about toys from today and toys from when our grandparents were young. 

In Science we began thinking about days of the week and months of the year and practised ordering the days of the week.

We also completed some artwork for the Shenley Kings Coronation artwork competition.
