Admissions

SHENLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL

All admissions to Shenley Primary School have to be completed through Hertfordshire County Council.

The following County admission rules apply for Primary schools which have more applications than places available.

Shenley Primary School admits children up to their annual admission limit. Where there is over subscription priority will be given to:

  • Children in public care.
  • Children for whom it can be demonstrated that they have a particular medical or social need to go to the school.
A panel of officers from County will determine whether the evidence provided is sufficiently compelling to meet the requirements for this rule.
  • Children who have a brother or sister on the roll of the school, or linked school, at the time of application for admission, unless the sibling is in the final year of the school or linked school, whichever provides for the older children.
  • Children for whom the school is the nearest Community or Voluntary Controlled School.
  • Children who live nearest to the school.

Responsibility for admissions currently lies with the Education Authority. Information will be sent from County Hall to your home address during the first term of the school year before your child is due in to school. Parents considering sending their child to our school are welcome to visit by appointment.

Nursery

The Free Place Entitlement for nursery is currently 15 hours per week and we offer this as 5 part-time sessions of 3 hours either in the morning or the afternoon. Applications for nursery places need to be placed through Hertfordshire County Council however for in-year nursery applications please speak to the school directly.

A limited number of flexible nursery sessions are available so that children can attend our unit from 8.30am-3.30pm for upto 5 days a week. There is a charge for the additional nursery hours.

If you would like to enquire about the 30 hours free childcare entitlement, please contact the school office to register your interest.  This is currently under review and we will contact you with more information in due course.

Flexible Nursery Sessions - Terms and conditions

Children may attend nursery either part-time (free) or full-time (fees apply for additional hours).  A full-time place means your child attends from 8.30am-3.30pm on the days booked.

Full-time sessions are booked on a minimum of half termly basis and must be paid for in full before your child attends the extra sessions.

The fees will be confirmed on your invoice.

Sessions will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and are not secured until payment has been received by the school. We will try our best to meet your needs.

Children already booked for full-time sessions will be given priority for flexible places during subsequent terms.

The school has the right to withdraw places or not offer places, as deemed appropriate or necessary.

Payments are non-refundable once your place has been confirmed.

Food is not included in the cost and you must supply a packed lunch or pay for a school lunch via school gateway
