Week commencing 2nd November 2020

We have had a great first week back here in Swansea class.

In English, we started our new book 'Cloud Tea Monkeys' which tells the tale of a young girl who goes to work for her mother on a tea plantation. To get us into the mood of the book on Tuesday we tasted three different types of tea. I was so proud of all of the children for tasting all three types (even though they weren't all big fans!) and for doing it so sensibly. Oscar even went home and made tea for his parents after this lesson!

In Maths, we have been doing multiplication this week and learning how to use short multiplication to times two and three digit numbers by one digit numbers. This is something that the whole class have picked up quickly and which we will build on further next week.

In the afternoons this week we have been doing Art. Our focus for this half term is Maya masks. This week we saw a selection of masks and sketched our favourites. The children were so focused on this and produced some fantastic pieces of work. We then designed our own masks which we will be making next week from a milk bottle. Please bring one in (preferably a 4 pint bottle) by next Tuesday so that your child can make their mask.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you at parents evening next week. Please make sure that you sign up for an appointment or alternatively come and speak to me if you are unable to do Wednesday or Thursday next week. Have a lovely weekend!
