Week commencing 21st September

This week has been another great week in Swansea class, with a high standard of work being produced across the curriculum.

In Maths, we have been looking at place value of numbers up to the millions. We were comparing and ordering large numbers this week using footballers values and animals weights to do so. The children really enjoyed this lesson and it gave a real world feel to the maths that we were learning in class.

In English, we started to write the sequels to 'The Wolves in the Walls', 'The Elephants in the Walls'. The stories that the children have produced are of a fantastic standard and I was really impressed with the way the children were able to vary the length of their sentences and use conjunctions to add extra detail. I hope to put these together in a book for our book corner when they are finished next week.

In History we have continued to look at the Maya. This week we created interesting and creative double page information posters about them and also created our own gods similar to the gods that the Maya worshiped. The children had some great ideas such as an eagle god, a rainbow goddess and even a goddess who was an avocado!

You will find this week's spellings on the class page (they are also in the children's reading records) and I have also now set Mathletics for the children to complete.

Have a fantastic weekend and I look forward to another fun week of learning next week!
