Week commencing 17th May

As we move towards the end of this half term, the children have continued to work hard across the curriculum this week. In English, we have been writing recounts of the end of Shackleton's journey using adventurous and emotive vocabulary. I have been really impressed with the children's efforts and the language that they have used has made their writing really interesting to read. The Shackleton unit has really captured the children's imagination and they have produced some of their best writing to date during this scheme of work.

We also started our DT unit this week where the children have been designing their own slippers. We looked at a range of existing slippers and then the children created 'mood boards' to try out their colour scheme and design. We are hoping to make these after half term.

In Jigsaw we have been looking at e-safety over the past few weeks and I am impressed with the maturity of the children during this topic. They can all identify how to stay safe online and know the importance of being kind to others when using the internet.

Our caterpillars which we have been observing for Science are now in cocoons and we are hoping that they emerge into butterflies before the half term break!

Have a lovely weekend!

Miss Rawlings
