Week beginning 9-11-2020
We have been starting to practise our class assembly this week and learning a dance which we are looking forward to sharing with you! On Friday we had lots of fun having a 'Duck race' in support of Children in Need.
In maths this week we have been practising matching numbers to amounts in a variety of ways. Also we have been learning number bonds to ten and looking for patterns in the number bonds. The children have been finding missing numbers and beginning to use 'part-whole' models in their calculations. Besides this we have been chanting the two and ten times tables!
In English we have been checking the punctuation of our sentences and re-reading them to ensure they make sense. Also we have had a big focus on improving our handwriting skills and following the 'Shenley' handwriting style.
This week we also went out to look at buildings we could see around the school and discussed which materials had been used. We learnt about different types of buildings from around the world and we discussed what they had been made from.
I have sent home the words for your children to learn in their book bags today, so please have a look at these over the weekend and help your child to learn them.
Next week we will be representing numbers to 10 by regrouping and learning to use part-whole models. In English we are moving onto writing single clause sentences and learning to match the beginning of sentences to the end of a sentence and check for sense!
Please tune in next Friday morning to watch our Hertfordshire Class assembly.
Can I also remind parents that we are now doing P.E. on Wednesdays, so please send your child into school in their P.E. kit on that day (we are often doing P.E. outside weather permitting).
Thank you for all of your continued support.
