Week beginning 7th June 2021
We have have carried on our learning with decimals this week and the children have worked really hard! They have been rounding, adding and comparing decimal numbers as well as answering reasoning questions using mathematical language.
In English, we started off the week with the children sharing their news from half term as they were all very excited. We had a focus on punctuation, handwriting and using conjunctions to extend their sentences. We also recapped our learning on prefixes with particulary –super and –auto.
The children were acting this week and I allowed them to be creative and innovative within their group performances. We have reached the end of the book ‘Atlas of Adventures’ and learnt all about the incredible Grand Canyon and created their drama perforances.
In Science, we planned and carried out an experiment to change states of matter. The children made predictions and asked scientific questions regarding the process of changing states. We put chocolate in different temperatures of water and observed the changes. The children’s predictions were all correct, but we focused on using correct scientific language to explain the changes of state and how they are reversible.
Next week, we have gymnastics on Monday so please could the children come to school in their PE kits. This is only for 2 weeks (next Monday as well).
Please can the children have water bottles in school – it is very hot and only getting hotter (according to the weather reports!).
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to take any photos as the camera as finally given up and no longer working! Hopefully this will be resolved soon.
Have a super weekend everyone and remember sun cream… it’s a hot one!
