Week beginning 7th June 2021
It was lovely to get everyone back for the new half term looking lovely and refreshed ready to learn!
This week we have started our new non-fiction book 'Bats' which the children have really enjoyed so far, learning lots of new facts about bats. We have been getting back to our normal guided reading sessions and we are very proud to have been the class with the best reading percentage across the school this week - so well done all of Hertfordshire class!
In maths we have been practising working out the difference between numbers in lots of different contexts. This is an area which lots of the children find particularly tricky so we will be practising this a lot over the next few weeks. We also made the most of the weather to go outside on the running track to practise identifying and using ordinal number- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.which the children thought was great fun! I have set the new Mathletics for this week coming so please ensure you complete this at home, any problems logging in please let me know so that we can help you to get this sorted out.
We have been hearing all about children's own science experiments from home as part of our Science week and we went on a tour to see the whole school's contribution on Friday which really impressed the children and promoted lots of talk about Science. We are conducting our own Science experiment in class all about conditions for growth for cress seeds as well as caring for our plants growing outside!
Next week we will be doing lots of practising of our class assembly which will go on the website on Friday. We are looking forward to sharing lots of our learning with you!
