Week 1 - 2nd November 2020
English
This week in English we have started to look at writing a diary entry. We have taken extracts from Samuel Pepys' diary, identified the features and thought about our senses and what we would be able to hear, see, touch and smell if we were in The Great Fire of London. We also thought about improving our vocabulary. We highlighted verbs and adjectives and used a thesaurus to change them and think of alternative words.

Maths
We have really challenged ourselves this week in Maths by using our 'think 10' method for addition and subtraction. This involves us thinking about how we can partition a number to add or subtract to 10 first and then the rest.

Art
In the theme of The Great Fire of London and with Bonfire Night too, we have started our new topic of 'Sparks and Flames'. We explored primary and secondary colours and also looked at how we can make them lighter and darker. We finished the week by finding all the different shapes you can see in fireworks.

Forest School
Our first week in Forest School! We made stick men, swung on the tyre swing, made a caravan and a bird feeder!
