Week beginning 28th June 2021

This week we have been finishing off our writing about bats and it is very obvious from what the children have written that they have remembered so many facts about this fascinating subject!  Next week we are moving on to a fictional text 'Here comes Mr Postmouse' by Marianne Dubuc and the children will be creating story maps, acting out the story in role as well as writing letters and invitations.

In maths this week we have been focussing on sharing amounts equally, moving on to exploring 'remainders'.  We have also been continuing to practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.  Next week we will be learning about equal and unequal amounts and solving problems linked to this as well as using money to make amounts in different ways.

We had our Sports Day this week which was great fun and the children cheered each other on very enthusiastically!  I know they loved getting their medals!  Thank you to everyone for sending in decorated eggs for the egg and spoon races.

Next week we will be continuing working on our 3-D sculptures of a giant penguin and polar bear using paper and paste!  In PSHE next week we would like to play a game of 'guess the baby' as we are thinking about changes and how we have changed over time.  Please could you send in a named photo of your child as a baby to enable us to do this!

We are having a STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths focus) day at school this week and the children have lots of different challenges to work on throughout the day in teams!  This should be really exciting and there will not be a pencil in sight!  I will be taking lots of photos!

Enjoy the sports day photos!
