Week beginning 15th March 2021
Hertfordshire Class have really enjoyed being back together again!
This week we have been sharing the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and have really loved re-enacting the story and hot-seating the characters from the story. Also we have been writing a letter to the wolf and sequencing the story using the words ‘first’, ‘next’ and ‘then’.
In maths we have been learning to halve and double amounts and numbers. We have also been practising counting in twos and learning to identify odd and even numbers.
We have been very busy with our science learning about humans and other animals – sorting animals into groups working together in teams! We have got started on our ‘Daily Mile’ and the children are enjoying the challenge.
Next week we will be focussing on the key features of non-fiction texts and learning to identify these. We will be practising using the 'Contents' and 'Index' pages and sorting books into fiction and non-fiction. We will be focussing on key skills and continuing to develop our 'sense of a sentence'. In maths we will be learning to 'think 10' to support regrouping. We will be finishing off our science topic and continuing with our R.E. topic learning about how people of different faiths 'worship' and finding out more about their special places of worship.
It has been so lovely to have all the children back and get back to our normal routines!
Thank you once again for all your hard work over the lockdown period we really appreciate everything you have done.
Mrs Scanzi and Mrs Warren.
