Week beginning 14th June 2021
We have continued to look at Macbeth the Scottish Play. We have started to look at it in a more detailed story form and and reading extracts from the play in Shakespearian language. The children have had to be detectives to find out what some of the words mean or might mean. The children took part in a debate whether or not to kill King Duncan. We have some very good speakers in Ulster Class.
In Maths, the children have revisited multiplying and dividing a number by 10,100 and 1000. They are also working on their fluency skills.
We looked at plants in Science, which can reproduce without male and female parts. A strawberry, potato and tulip are all types of asexual plants. The children took a cutting from a plant in the classroom and will observe how it is possible to create a new plant this way.
In Art we have started to explore sculpture, first becoming aware of what is sculpture, looking at three very different sculptors, Barbara Hepworth, Alexander Calder and Edgar Degas. The children have looked at polar animals sketching some and then exploring sculpture and making a 3D model stand.
