Week beginning 12th April 2021
Welcome back everyone after the Easter break! We hope you all had a good rest and recharged your batteries!
The children have really been enjoying being back together and they have made a great start to the new term.
In English this week we have been reading the book 'Voices in the Park' by Anthony Browne and the children have been really good at relating the story to their own experiences of the park. We have been discussing the different characters and their feelings and expressing our own opinions about the story. The children have worked really hard writing about events in the story in the correct sequence.
In maths we have been practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s forwards and backwards. We have been learning and using the maths language linked to subtraction and learning to take away single digit numbers from numbers 10 to 20. Also we have been practising identifying 'o'clock' times and drawing the hands on the clocks.
We have made a good start on our new topic 'What a Wonderful World' this week learning about parts of a tree in science and finding out about the North Pole in Geography. The children have been finding out about human and physical features in different environments.
We have carried on with the daily mile and the children are really loving this and I think starting to improve their fitness levels now!
Next week we will be sharing the story 'Where's my Teddy?' by Jez Alborough and in maths we will be continuing with subtraction using a range of methods and practical apparatus as well as developing understanding of equivalencies.
We are looking forward to another exciting week of learning next week and can't wait to visit our new library!
