Week 7- 21st October 2019
As this half term drew to a close, we spent the week finishing off our 'Dragonology' topic which we have all really enjoyed. In English, we wrote dragon poems based on the dragons in the book 'Tell Me a Dragon' by Jackie Morris. We used the illustrations and language in the book to inspire our own poems. In the poems we used adjectives and similes to create images in our readers heads and also attempted to use alliteration in our writing. We then published our poems using the Chromebooks. You can read some of them in the photo section below.
In DT this week we have been creating our own pop up dragon books. We started by looking at a range of existing pop up books to get ideas to use in our own. Then we practised different ways of making pop ups such as springs, levers and box folds before designing and creating our books. We were very proud of how they turned out and evaluated them with our friends from Plymouth class. Some of our books can be seen in the photo section.
Our dragon topic ended on Friday afternoon with a visit from a real life gecko! We loved having him to visit and all learnt lots. It was a great way to end a topic that we have had so much fun with!
What a great start to the year we have had! Wishing everybody a happy and safe half term and looking forward to seeing you all again on November 4th.
