Week 6 - 9th December 2019

With only 12 days until Christmas, Kent class have continued to delve into their learning in all areas of the curriculum. We started the week looking at how Sir Winter comes and 'makes you shiver.' He 'shudders at the keyhole and rattles at the door.' 'He strips the leaves off all the trees' and 'lays a sparkling quilt of snow on everything.' This poem has made us think about how we feel about winter. Look at some of the great descriptive phrases we have come up with.

'I heard glistening snow falling down outside. It was so cold, my mum made me a hot chocolate and when it was night time we went outside to watch the twinkling, bright, shiny stars.

I see the cheeky robin on the tree. I see the delicate snowflake falling on my nose. I see a beautiful Christmas tree, then I was wondering what it would be like on Christmas Day?'

In Art, we used our printing blocks that we created to finally print our patterns into our books. We used a paintbrush to paint our block and then printed it in different ways and pressure.

We also finished our Science topic on 'Materials' by looking at an exciting chocolate experiment. First of all we melted chocolate in the pan to help us with our hot chocolate spoons for the Frost Fair. We understood that the chocolate melted because the cocoa butter inside turns to liquid when it is heated up. The next day we looked at the heat in our hand and saw how even our hands can melt the cocoa butter.
