Week 6 - 12th to 16th of October 2020

In Maths this week we continued our focus on Place Value. We found ten more and ten less than two and three digit numbers , then moved on to finding one hundred more and a hundred less than three digit numbers.

Next week, we will continue this focus before we move on.

In English this week, we started off by creating a glossary of Dr Xargles alien words in the book.
We have been thoroughly enjoying our Science Fiction story and if you like to listen to it together, please follow the link.

Mr. Jones Reads - Earth Hounds as explained by Professor Xargle

Then , we moved on to using prepositions, conjunctions and adverbs in our descriptions of pictures from our book.

Our next task will be to write a Non-chronological report about aliens. On Friday , everyone thought about what they were going to write about and made a plan .

Next week, we will use these plans to help write the reports.

Spellings: This week we will be focusing on the 'ee' sound and the words will be stuck into the Reading Journals on Wednesday.

In Geography this week, we are continuing to learn about the River Nile.

We pretended we were traveling down the river from it's source to it's mouth and started to describe the trip.

Then, we learned about the Aswan High Dam and the effects that it had on the local people.
