Social Media

Week 6 - 10th February 2020

Internet Safety Day 2020- in Year 6 we recognised this day by collecting data, interpreting data and having a debate about social media. This year, Internet Safety Day’s ethos was #FreeToBe – asking the children who are they are free to be online.

In groups, we devised a questionnaire to ask Swansea about the devices they use and the social media they are on. From this, we were able to create bar graphs and even pie charts to display our findings.

I presented the class with the question ‘’Should social media be banned for under 16’s?’’ We discussed the positives as well as the negatives of social media and looked at some recent statistics. We then held a debate – all of York class took part and were brilliant at using debate language.
