Week 6 - 10th February 2020
In Kent Class for Safer Internet Day we:
- Looked at the story of Smartie the Penquin. We learnt a song about being safe online, and if we are ever worried, we should speak to an adult.
- We then discovered what our digital footprint was, and how easy it is to leave information online about ourselves.
- We discussed how we can be kind online and looked at some different scenarios
- Finally we were the judge and decided which websites sounded safe to go on.
This week, we have looked at our new text:
The Cat in the Hat
We have explored his character description and identified all the rhyming words in the books and individual poems. At the start of the week, we had some clues that we had to unscramble to work out who our new book was about. We began to write some of our own rhyming words to create our own poems and thought about how the Dr Seuss one's made us feel.
The Cat in the Hat really made us giggle with a lot of the things he said!
Our topic for this term was Belonging and Helping in the Community. We looked at what it means to belong and invited in Reverend Daniel and Rabbi Garber to talk to us about what they think it means to belong. They also spoke to us about all that they do in the community. The talk was interactive and we understood a lot more after.
We then got to look at some Christian and Jewish artefacts and asked questions about these. Finally we spoke about how we can help other people and came up with some things that we can do as a class to help others in the community.
