Week 5 - 7th October 2019
This week we have been learning/recapping how to use the formal written method for addition. The children are consolidating their knowledge of regrouping in the ones, tens and hundreds. Here is a beautiful example of it in the form of drawing.
In literacy, we have been working on writing a persuasive text about why the children should take part in the dragon initiation programme. They have come up with some brilliant ideas and have used key language in their writing.
In geography, the children have been learning about the countries and characteristics of the UK. Here is a lesson where the children were exposed to the different types of land use in the UK.
As a project for Black History Month, the class were exposed to Black artists in the UK. We wanted to celebrate the work of Lubaina Himid, a Turner Prize winner, and tired to recreate her work.
We will be continuing to build on noun phrases in literacy. In maths we will look at the formal written method of subtraction. We will finish off geography by discussing a topographical map of the UK.
