Week 4 - 27th January 2020

Maths:

This week, we have been focusing on Subtraction. We started with the subtraction numbers that did not require regrouping and then went on to numbers that required regrouping.

English:

We started the week by working on punctuating speech. We wrote out own sentences and then focused on direct speech in our text, War and Peas.

We started to pan our own stories , following the pattern of War and Peas.

First of all , we created two characters and decided what was going to happen between them.

We then proceeded to write detailed plans for our individual stories. We are excited about writing them next week and some children have already shared the outline of their imaginative, exciting stories.

History:

This week we were learning about the origin of the Olympic Games in Ancient Greece and we found out what the events were like and who was allowed to be there. then we used a Venn Diagram to find which events the present day Olympic

Games have in common with the original ones,

Over the next two days , we looked again at Ancient Greek battles and soldiers . We pretended to be an Ancient Greek soldier in Alexander the Great's army and wrote a letter to a family member describing what was happening.

P.S.H.E.

On Monday, we made Dream Jars. We started off by deciding what one of our dreams for the future was and then identified five steps to fulfilling that dream.

We created pictures of ourselves achieving that dream. Also, we created beautiful Dream Jars that we will show you soon when we take them home.
