Week 3 21st-25th September

This week we have explored the Maya religion and found it was all a bit grizzly and ghastly, involving blood letting and human sacrifices. There were over 250 gods and the children designed their own Maya god. On our topic table we have some real vegetables that we still eat today that was in the diet of a Maya person.

In maths the children have been continuing with place value and counting in steps of 10 for example jumps of 10, 100, 1000, 10,000 and backwards.

The Wolves in the Wall writing has been very entertaining especially when we used drama to explore some ideas for our writing. We had some very cheeky wolves, wearing a sock!

We started a new book in Guided reading 'The Shaman's Apprentice' and discussed how some picture book are disguised fact books! We had fun reading the names of some of the medicinal plants.
