Week 3- 18th November

Maths:

(Mental Fluency- Subtraction)

Step 3: Subtracting hundred, tens and one with no regrouping.

Step 4:  Subtracting ones from 2-digit numbers with regrouping.

 

English:

They had an introduction to Persuasive Writing and looked at the features of this genre.

They had choice of a few topics to discuss and voted to discuss : 

Dogs make better pats than cats. What do you think?

We had a lively  and interesting discussion about this and they have started to write a persuasive letter to a person of their choice about this. 

 

Science :

We have continued our Light topic and they have discovered more about Light and how shadows are made.

 

Spanish

Our focus this week has been on the colours and they are learning a lively song about them.

 

Class Assembly: (see photos)

They really enjoyed preparing their Class Assembly for this morning. Every child had a part and said something . They were  all wonderful and spoke clearly .

They joined in  very enthusiastically with the song about the 3 times tables and there was excellent audience participation too. They love the song about Light and their actions were superb.

 

 

Next Week:

Maths:

Step 5: Subtracting multiples of ten from 3-digit numbers with regrouping.

Step 6: Subtracting 2-digit numbers from 2-digit numbers with regrouping.

 

English:

They will revisit the features of Persuasive Writing and continue their letters to persuade someone about their point of view.

They will also be introduced to the new text: 

Electrical Wizard: How Nikola Tesla lit up the world.

 

Science:

They will be finishing off the Light topic and reviewing the work that they have done.

 

Spanish:

They will be learning the days of the week in Spanish.

This morning we had a lovely time doing our Class Assembly for our parents and guardians.
