Week 2 - 9th November 2020
This week we have been exceptionally proud of the way Kent Class have carried about their learning. They have engaged with everything, albeit being taught via the screen and they have completed their work with the highest standards!
This week in English we continued to look at diary entires. We planned our diary entry about The Great Fire of London and then we wrote it over two days. When you read them you really feel as if you were there! We made sure to include some of the vocabulary that we have learnt since September and wrote about how we felt.
In Maths this week, we have looked at rebalancing for equal sum, rounding to the nearest multiple of 10 and number bonds to 100. When rebalancing for equal sum, we found that if we rounded to the nearest 10 then it's easier for us to add or subtract. We learnt that when finding the difference, we need to do the same on both sides, but when adding we have to do the opposite.
Sparks and Flames Art!
This week was the end of our Sparks and Flames and Colour Creations Unit. We brought in different printing materials from home and made our own fireworks pictures. We used a big sheet of paper to see what the prints would look like and then used them for our own fireworks. On Tuesday, we made a firework setting out of chalk.
Geography - London and The UK
On Thursday, we started out new Geography topic ‘London and The UK’. We had some clues put on our table that we had to read and guess what we were learning about. We knew straight away because one of the clues was ‘it often rains’. We spoke about what we would like to find out about London and what we knew and then matched some facts together that we had learnt about.
