Week 2 - 14th September 2020
This week was a great success! We had our first focus learning which each child will have the privilege of being. It allows them to be the helper in class, being responsible of the book corner and sharing their learning on a Friday afternoon.
In maths this week, we focused again place value and representing three and four digit numbers using a variety of equipment, ordering numbers on a number-line and ensuring we understood some key mathematical vocabulary.
In English, we started our new story 'Arthur and the golden rope'. The children used the front cover to create their own useful questions that would allow them to find out more about the story. They also wrote some super descriptive sentences where they created their own imaginary forest and later went on to describe it.
We started our ancient Egyptians topic where the children learnt about who the Egyptians were and how society was ordered. The children was outraged that slaves were ordered to work most of the day and night without getting paid!
In science, we started our electricity topic. It was interesting to discover how some of the children believed electricity is formed and how households actually receive it.
