Week 1 - 7th September 2020

I was so proud of Plymouth's class attitudes for the first week back! It was certainly testing for them at times where they weren't used to the long days but they all coped and worked remarkably well.

In Maths this week, we have been looking at place value. The children used a variety of equipment to represent  the place value of three digit numbers and different strategies for adding two digit and three digit numbers. Some children were reminding themselves how to use the column method and part part whole method. We also continued to play some of the fluency games that we had learnt last week such as 'Place value Duel' where the children used playing cards to duel a card and make the greatest number.

In English, we focused on the book 'Here we are' by Oliver Jeffreys. The children wrote fantastic poems using their senses and wrote a letter to somebody who was special to them.

In the afternoons, the children learnt about landscapes and went onto to creating their own landscape pictures using a method of tearing paper. They also designed their 'own world'.
