Week 1 - 6th January 2020
Happy New Year! York class have made such a positive start to 2020! We have all come back ready to learn.
This week is Science week with the theme of ‘Our Diverse Planet’. We have been looking at weather and how diverse it can be between countries. Each group had different experiments based around a different type of weather from storms to snow. We have made predictions, chosen variables, carried out an experiment, written results, drawn diagrams and created a display.
During this week, we have also been lucky enough to spend time in our houses carrying out other experiments such as; creating parachutes out of different materials to learn about air resistance, creating static energy, using microscopes to look at cells and animals and making aeroplanes to see which material works best.
New term means a new topic! Living Landscapes – is our topic for this half term! We will be looking at mountain, rivers and the water cycle along many other exciting things. We started off creating some artwork for our display. Using a layering technique and foam pads we created our own landscapes using blue and green shades of paper.
Special delivery!! Our new book is based on a camera that gets washed up on a beach. We had our very own Flotsam camera delivered to our classroom – ask us about what Flotsam is and where you might find it.
